The Palau de les Heures, designed by the architect August Font i Carreres in 1896, was in a ruinous state after having suffered a fire and having been illegally occupied for a long time.
The refurbishment work consisted of adapting the building to house the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, part of the Mundet Campus in Vall d’Hebron.
For the interior restoration, an extensive photographic report had been taken prior to the deterioration (probably during the 1940s), allowing the most significant and important elements to be reproduced and restored to their original state. The main staircase with its banister, the chessboard-tiled floor, the mouldings in the corridors, etc. were completely recreated.
In addition, the façade was refurbished and a new roof of copper and plywood had to be built. In terms of the organisation of the interior space, the new use for which the palace was meant to be used made it possible to preserve the succession of spaces, as well as their hierarchy and main and secondary axes.
