Detached house in Dorria

Detached house in Dorria

“The land had a slope of 25% and the village was located at the back, so we had to adapt the house as much as possible to the terrain and integrate it into the village of Dorria, which is about 200 metres away.

We tried to solve the first point by means of a succession of slopes in the interior that do not appear on the exterior due to the large dimensions of the roof, which had to adapt to the frequent snowfalls.
The second point we tried to resolve by dividing the house by means of dividing walls that emerge above the roof, giving the sensation of independent bodies. Finally, we tried to ensure that all the rooms enjoyed maximum sunlight and views, and for this reason the house is developed in the form of a fan, starting from a hollow central pentagon with which a spatial union of the living areas is achieved by means of this layout. Despite the large dimensions of the house, all the rooms have been oriented S-SW, including the kitchen and toilet areas.

The structure of the house is based on stone load-bearing walls and the roofs are entirely wooden and made from California pine, due to the size of the wood squares.
