The objective of the commission was to change the façade of a 22-storey office building, built in 1964, on Av. Diagonal in Barcelona. The customer was a building owners’ association, with all the difficulty that this entails. The aim was to adapt the building to current fire regulations, improve the thermal and acoustic insulation and the watertightness of the façade, allow air-conditioning machines to be installed on each of the floors and improve its image. All this had to be done without stopping at any time the activity of the building, which is the headquarters of an important communications group, the Godó Group (a television station, two radio stations, a newspaper) and three consulates. The planned system allowed the work to be completed in 14 months.
